TRICK or TEE Time was frighteningly successful!

The normally serene and beautiful Lighthouse Sound Golf Course was turned into a haunted playground on Thursday, October 27, complete with Halloween costumes, ghosts and Paint Ball zombies. We were able to raise enough money through the tournament and corporate donations to purchase several light displays for downtown. Watch for their appearance this holiday season.

In case you are not familiar with our goals, here is a little bit about the reason for the tournament.

The DTA’s Mission is to help ensure the continued success of our ever-changing downtown area. Years ago, the downtown area was the hub of holiday festivities, however, over the years the holiday activities migrated and are now limited to North Side Park. By restoring holiday festivities to downtown, many businesses would be able to stay open and benefit from the extended season.

The Town of Ocean City challenged the Downtown Association to show that there is an interest in holiday decorations downtown, and to help raise the funds to bring them back. For the past 4 years, the Ocean City Downtown Association has been doing just that. We have been raising funds to restore the holiday lights and the holiday spirit to downtown, through our Light Up Downtown events and our Winter Festival on the Boardwalk.

This year we have acquired 90 large wreaths to be displayed on businesses in the downtown area and purchased several large light displays, the first of which will be visible along Baltimore Avenue as you enter the city from the Rt. 50 bridge. These light displays cost several thousand dollars each.

100% of the profits from the tournament will be used to purchase holiday lighting for downtown Ocean City.

Join us for Light Up Downtown Winter Festival,  November 19, on the Boardwalk at the Inlet, 2-6PM. Admission is FREE. There will be holiday lights, shopping vendors, Trimper’s Village Shops will be open, the band — One Night Stand will play through the afternoon, fun, food, games for the kids and a visit from Santa. Come and enjoy! BRING THE WHOLE FAMILY!
